My December 15, 2008 letter to First Lady: Laura Bush

a version of this letter was sent to President Bush as well.
New York in December 15, 2008
Madam First Lady: Laura Bush
Dear Madam First Lady
I came to America less than seventeen years ago with a 5 years degree in architecture and I am trying to find a job as an architect ever since. In 1997 I found an employment in a construction firm in Long Island named F&V where after around 6 months of productive hard work there more than 10 different employees repeatedly touched me inappropriately. It was an assault I couldn’t take and left the work. In 1998 after four years of trying I was awarded an admission to the Master of Architecture program in SUNY Buffalo . I graduated with a Master of Architecture in 2000. My M-Arch thesis was a national project to expand Lower Manhattan to the sea achieving ages of prosperity and expandability for Manhattan.
Being a graduate from a reputable American school I thought it will be very easy to find a job. Since graduation I made more than 7000 attempts to find a job of no avail. And when I am hired to work for a few days I wish I wasn’t hired they routinely steal my fees and touch me inappropriately repeatedly while I am working. The touching even happened during interviews, they usually give me the wrong address and /or the wrong directions to go to the interviews. They often call pretending they are offering me an interview claiming it is a 30 minutes away , going there I realize that it was not 30 minutes but a few hours of driving away when I arrived they refused to interview me.
Upon realizing that the spaciousness my thesis proposed will be a superior approach to rebuild lower Manhattan I submitted my design work to LMDC that ran the rebuilding process. They answered in writing stating they are not going to look at it.
Not employed, Loving architecture, having written an M-Arch thesis regarding Lower Manhattan, and shocked by the criminal corruption of the rebuilding process of Lower Manhattan, I decided to follow this process. Carefully Following it, I uncovered countless mistakes, violations and crimes. I documented all what I saw wrong. What I uncovered and documented clearly exposed the rebuilding of New World Trade Center. My findings were large enough to fill a book so I filled one. While this process is criminally corrupted right from its start until now, the flawed architecture it produced is being constructed right now.
Since I started to critique the rebuilding process of Lower Manhattan I faced even more violent assaults while working briefly in architectural firms or even having an employment interviews there. I had an assignment in Skidmore Owing and Merrill where they appeared to have hired me through an agency just to assault me. They would ask me sit to work on a computer then another employee will come and say this is my computer you cannot work here and this used to happen few times every day. They were also asking me to use a modeling programs that is not appropriate for the task in hands. They kept maliciously manipulating and destroying my work as I was working on the computer using their network administrative privileges. They change the task they asked me to do before its completion abruptly, unreasonably and repeatedly. Throughout my few weeks of employment there I was touched inappropriately few times every day despite clearly communicated disgust over it. SOM is the firm that designed and is building the under construction Freedom Tower. I documented SOM’s failures and wrong doings in a number of my essays.
Using my computer, I detailed these assaults in writing. All what I wrote was deleted I rewrote it and it was re-deleted. All the similar details of the other assaults by other firms were also repeatedly deleted off my computer against my will. It is worth noting that I am the only user of my computer in my household. The assaults on my computer are so many to the extent it seem like my stand alone computer is maliciously networked against my will.
STV contacted me pretending to offer a job interview. They said “we are going to take care of him” (that was their exact words). After my first interview with one of STV’s architects I e-mailed him a thank you note. This note referred our conversation about Libeskind’s winning scheme for the new WTC stating: “The master plan was completely changed and that is what is under the construction now. The scheme that won was organized crime/ developers’ scheme. The silence of all New York’s architects consented to this scheme and conspired to conceal its obvious flaws.” After months of wasted time and -of course- high hopes, STV used profanity harassing me during the last interview. The STV interviewer referred to my thank you note that associated STV with the organized crime with a smirk during this last interview before using profanity he also pushed me as we exited his office. I had to call the police to get my portfolio materials from them. It is worth noting that STV has a significant and a profitable part in the rebuilding of the WTC. They are a part of joint venture to design and build the PATH World Trade Center Transportation Hub. This Hub was described as “unbuildable”, it is way over budged and will never fit with the proposed urban context. I documented the design flaws of This transportation hub in my essays.
If my logic is flawed why will they go that criminal to assault me. As you can see their assaults credit and authenticate my design concept and my findings. Their assaults highlights how weak and incapable their logic is; they are trying to move the battle from the reason arena where I want it to be where they will never win to the wrestling arena where they can win. As you can see it is not a personal problem of an American being assaulted it is America that is being assaulted.
It is noble to trigger a chain reaction to help America even in the last few days of President Bush’s presidency. This reaction can be simply triggered by asking the FBI to launch a criminal investigation about the rebuilding process of Lower Manhattan after September 11. I would like to wish you Madam First Lady and your First Family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Ramez A. George

The president's man

I sent this essay to the White House. It is included in the book.
Betts began his remarks with a reference to his longtime friend. "1 would like to thank President Bush for his concise counsel to me, "Do something that will make people proud,' " Betts said.”
Betts came up with the entire idea of the design competition, which was a very good idea if -of course- it was managed competently. In fact before following the rebuilding process I was convinced that design competition is a fool-proof process.
Goldberger in his book “Up From Zero” described Betts’s intentions and demeanor “Betts believed. "It would help with putting pressure on them to reduce square footage," Betts said later. His initial notion was that if an architectural competition produced a spectacular design that captured the public's imagination but could not accommodate the full amount of commercial space demanded by the Port Authority, the authority would have no choice but to accept it. As things turned out, however, the Port Authority, which at first expressed disdain for the idea of an architectural competition—the authority "hated the idea, they were hoping that all the architects would go off and do stupid things," Betts said— agreed that something had to be done after Listening lo the City and ended up giving tacit, if hardly enthusiastic, approval. Probably Betts's most important accomplishment in the weeks following Listening to the City was to convince the Port Authority to accept the notion of a range of office space rather than an absolute number and to agree that some of it might be provided on adjacent sites that the LMDC could acquire”(112)
Betts chose Foster , ( almost forced him into the competition) Foster is a very logic choice he is one of the “usual suspects” that should be in such competition. Why will anyone question Foster’s admissibility or try to argue with Betts about it?
Betts suggested a program range from 6.5 to 10 million squar feet.
Goldberger addressing the big the 10 million square feet program wrote this statement
“The idealism of good design could not, in the end, mitigate the harshness of this extreme commercial program.”( 257)
It is seldom that one thing could be both heavenly and earthly at the same time. Working on the small program achieves both. A good architect use it to both earthly win the design competition as well as produce noble relevant timeless heavenly architecture.
It is funny when I read about the program range it sounded as if it had a small wording flaw since all the architects will choose the least amount which was the 6.5 million square feet , so in a way it is not accurate it to be called a range it should have been called a program reduction. Two prolific Pulitzer Prize winners authors wished if Governor Pataki would reduce the program in their two books regarding the rebuilding efforts, Betts’s idea of a program range achieved this.
Any architect in his right mind will choose to work with the smallest program. Because if it is about architecture and winning design-competitions, and any architect who work with the smaller program will easily beat the architects of a comparable talent working on the bigger program. Why all the architects expect for Foster worked with the bigger program, and chose to ignore the huge design advantages the smaller program allows them? The smaller program is also the more national choice provided that national choice aims at a better more elegant architecture, a better skyline and it allow to design all the insertions in a much better way including the memorial.
Any architect that is given a choice to work with the small 6.5 or 10 million square feet million square feet program and chose to work with the bigger program is like someone who is playing cards and had a choice of a truly lucky handed set of cards and a much worse set of cards to play with and chose the much worse set of cards. 4 out of 7 chose to play with the bad cards, SOM found the bad cards were not bad enough they made the big and bad 10 million square feet program a bigger and worse 13 million square feet and produced disturbing architecture. Foster played with the good cards and produced good architecture and was penalized severely. The game ended while THINK group didn’t have to reveal all his cards.
Working with the big program carries risk that mounts to a form of professional-suicide because not only choosing the big program limits the creativity of the designer but also it is fair for any contestants to assume with certitude that all the other 6 contestants will use the small program that will give them a far greater chance to create better architecture and easily beat his work.
Foster was not chosen among the 3 first places. Foster was “angry” ( justifiably so) It is worth investigating why the vast majority of architects chose the big program. In competition settings the contestants supposedly don’t know the work of the other teams or which program they adopted .
Betts chose THINK group and he “was enraged” when Governor Pataki reversed his choice and chose Libeskind I think the reason Betts was enraged was because that was his last chance to make good on the president commission to him. He couldn’t achieve his mission despite doing his best. He will not be able to “make people proud” as was asked by the president. Obviously he was overwhelmed by everything that was going wrong around him, one man standing alone vs. an ill-will cannot hold even if he has the president of the United States as a friend.
THINK group offered their Lattice Work without any program at one stage of the submission giving freedom to the developers to build the office square-footage, it was hard to figure out which program the group chose yet his gesture suggested that THINK didn’t like the big program. It could be read as an attempt to “smuggle” the small program after Foster’s attempt to openly use it failed, the “smuggling” attempt failed as well.
There are no incremental or levels of success in the rebuilding process every step has to be right. LMDC’s objectives were very low, so perfection was certainly within reach. In fact I can proof that their objectives could be multiplied by 20 yet perfectly won. Mr. Betts was extremely patient, a lot more than he should have been. He fought long and hard trying to achieve his mission. It was obvious from the beginning when anyone argues about the eligibility of Foster. Instead of arguing Mr. Betts should have answered to the commander in chief saying “ those guys don’t know what they are doing.” While it sounds a little brattish, ironically that was the right thing to do. The reason was every time the good will of Mr. Betts was defeated, the ceiling of the process was brought a step down which means the achievable 100% success was compromised right at the first step down. Stopping the process there would have saved a lot of money and verbalized the truth which would have led to confronting the situation. However, his patience served a good investigative purpose. It became clearly evident that there was an ill-will overpowering his goodwill. This ill-will prevailed in the end.

History will wonder…My E-Mail #100 to the president

Mailed and e-mailed from NYC, January 17, 2008

The Honorable president: George W. Bush

Dear president: Bush
Throughout the last seven years, I wrote the White House many letters, faxes and this is my 100th E-mail to Mr. President. The premise of those letters is briefly highlighted in this paragraph. I have a Master of Architecture degree from SUNY Buffalo, graduated in 2000. My M-Arch’s thesis was a national project to expand Lower Manhattan into the sea achieving ages of prosperity and expandability for Manhattan. As the rebuilding process of Lower Manhattan commenced after the terrorist attacks of September 11, I offered a synopsis of my design work for the LMDC (the entity the administered the rebuilding process). They refused to critique it, refused to hear or meet me. They put their refusal in writing. I followed the rebuilding process of lower Manhattan closely and was able to discover countless violations of design and administrative principles. This process is vividly corrupted. There is an approach to rebuild lower Manhattan that is far national and far superior yet was never introduced to the public. The validity of this valid argument alone will declare the lower Manhattan rebuilding process obsolete by comparison. Closely watching the wrong doings consistently committed throughout the entire length of Lower Manhattan’s rebuilding process will declare this process and its outcome invalid without any comparisons. I presented my expansion approaches along with my rebuilding process critique in a book titled “In for a Dream?” This book is subtitled “A National, Superior and Honest Approach to Rebuild Lower Manhattan.” This book is pending publishing.

It is a verifiable fact that the president of the United States of America is the most powerful man in the world. As a naturalized American citizen, I indulge on this proven fact. On the other hand -applying worldly measures- I am probably the least powerful man in New York. Provided how important and how time-sensitive the materials that I provided over the last 7 years -Even with the powers of the US-presidency and my insignificance- the White House doesn’t have the option of ignoring my pleas. Please don’t let my insignificance and poverty defeat New York. Despite I don’t quite wish to be rich, lately I truly wished to have some riches to pay a PR firm to inform you about my legitimate case. The other guys have neither a case nor a project yet they have guys in the press doing their PR.

The federal government under your leadership generously funded the rebuilding process of Lower Manhattan in an attempt to fund New York’s comeback after the terrorist attacks. One cannot ask for a better intentions yet cannot imagine a worth outcome. These funds were used to fund a personal project producing a massive square footage to serve the purpose of a few while defeating the purpose of the entire country. Even worse the government money was most likely used to fund organized crime, bribe politicians and generate bogus press misleading the public.

In one of my letters to you Mr. President, years ago, I asked the white house to form a critique-committee of honorable, competent and unquestionably-loyal Americans to examine my design assertions. This offer is still standing. I suggest presenting my conclusions regarding Lower Manhattan’s rebuilding process’s wrong doings before another committee formed of law enforcements agents.

Time is running out Mr. President your presidency just entered its 8th and final year. The construction on the personal -yet presented as national- project to rebuild the WTC started. I sent you Mr. President, hundreds of pages and a CD detailing the corruption and the inferiority of the current rebuilding process of lower Manhattan. What I sent the white house will exonerate me before history. But will compel history to wonder; why the honorable president didn’t intervene to help New York? I urge you Mr. President to get involved to save New York.

A call for the First Lady’s conscience to save New York.

NYC in January 8, 2008
Dear Madam First Lady: Laura Bush

You ranked among the highest on my list of the most distinguished and honorable persons that live in our planet. I devised this list to appeal for the conscience of those who are in this list to help me save my city, New York. I am an American citizen. I am reaching out for your unquestionable integrity.
I have a Master of Architecture degree from State University of New York at Buffalo, and graduated in 2000. My thesis was a national project to expand Lower Manhattan into the sea achieving ages of prosperity and expandability for Manhattan. After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, my design work gained urgency and its relevance became compelling as a national rebuilding approach for Lower Manhattan.
As the rebuilding process of Lower Manhattan commenced after September 11, I hand-delivered a synopsis of my design work for the LMDC (the entity the administered the rebuilding process). Numerous times, I urged LMDC to allow me to present and explain my design work. They refused to critique my work, refused to hear or meet me. They put their refusal in writing. I followed the rebuilding process of Lower Manhattan closely and was able to discover countless violations of moral, design and administrative principles. This process was set to serve the purpose of a very few and defeat the purpose of the whole country. While this process is vividly corrupted, the architecture that it produced is being constructed as you are reading this letter.
This rebuilding process was largely funded by the American Federal government. While the intention of the federal government was to fund a major comeback for New York, the federal funds was misused and were applied to fund corruption. My design work and findings easily accumulated a more than 200 pages book (it is not published yet). I wrote this book in an attempt to right what is wrong. I sent my book on CD to many national and local politicians yet hardly received any answers.
I shared my work with the local and national American Media. There were countless lies reported about the rebuilding process through the Media outlets but the truth was never reported.
The great and popular city that is New York City is being assaulted one more time, this time it is an assault from within.
Thank you for your time and considerations.

Yours, Sincerely
Ramez A George

My 8 Jan 08 letter to the Director of Correspondence of the office of Laura Bush

Mailed from NYC, January 8, 2008

Misty C. Marshall
Director of Correspondence
Office of Laura Bush

Dear Ms: Marshall
A second response for your letter dated June 29, 2005.
I would like to start by thanking the First Lady Laura Bush again.
You mentioned that you shared my views “with the appropriate members of the White House staff”. In the enclosed CD you will find tens of essays objectively critiquing and analyzing the rebuilding process in Lower Manhattan. Those were mostly my findings not my opinions. Those findings were disturbing. Please share those findings with the same “appropriate members of the White House staff” so they can compare their findings with mine.
The only thing the current rebuilding process is capable of commemorating is the anarchy and the lawlessness that dominated the rebuilding process of Lower Manhattan from its start until now.
I asked you in my letter dated Sep 23, 2005, that “Bureaucracy, corruption and anarchy are launching a vicious attack against New York don’t let them win”. They won Ms Marshall, and the construction started in WTC site. The process was funded generously by the federal government. The government stepped in with the intentions to fund the New York’s comeback yet ended funding a personal and corrupted process.

The White House decisions often start inside a smart mind of one of the White House staff like your own. I urge you to utilize all your professional expertise to bring this matter into Madam First Lady’s attention.

My response for First Lady's June 29, 2005 Letter

This is my letter that was mailed to the white house from NYC, on Sep 23, 2005, (Slightly edited for clarity)
Misty C. Marshall
Director of Correspondence
office of Laura Bush
A response for your letter to me dated June 29, 2005
Dear Ms: Marshall
I would like to start by thanking the first lady Laura Bush, it is thrilling that a letter written by a simple person like I caught her eye. Our popular graceful first lady that I heard the president of the United States introducing himself once as the husband of Laura Bush and the son of Barbara Bush. The American people disagree on almost every thing yet they agree on our first Lady. As you mentioned first lady Laura Bush asked you to answer my letter, I thank her with gratitude.
You mentioned that you shared my views “with the appropriate members of the White House staff.”. I wrote tens of essays objectively critiquing and analyzing the rebuilding process in Lower Manhattan I am willing and will be more than glad to share all what I wrote with them.
I am reading few books that were written about the rebuilding process, one of them called “Up From Zero” by Paul Goldberger. This book simply chronicled the Lower Manhattan rebuilding process. I highly recommend that the staff that will read my letter, read this book. It is even better if they hired an architect or someone who truly is passionate and knowledgeable about architecture to read it. The readers of this book are likely to conclude that every time there were a choice between serving national or personal interest it was the personal interest that was served. I read this book and made notes about it, I am willing to share it with “the appropriate white house staff”.
In this book there are a few places where the name “Ronald Bitts” was mentioned. Mr.: Bitts is not only competent and honest but he is also trusted by the white House, he is a personal friend of President Bush. He was a member of LMDC (resigned later)Bitts was marginalized by the building process he was too clean to fit in. Mr. Bitts’s testimony in this regard could be useful.
Bureaucracy, corruption and anarchy are launching a vicious attack against New York, don’t let them win. The White House decisions often start inside a smart mind of one of the White House staff like your own. I urge you to do all what you are capable of doing to bring this matter into Madam First Lady’s attention.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Ramez A. George

The June 29, 2005 response I received from first lady Laura Bush’s director of correspondences.

In this digitally framed letter, the First Lady’s director of correspondences was responding to one of my letters to First Lady Laura Bush.
I was very happy that I finally received a letter from the First Lady. However it is not about exchanging letters with the White House it is about exposing the corruption of the rebuilding process and about getting the white House involved in getting my proposal heard. It is 2008 and the Lower Manhattan’s rebuilding process corruption is not exposed and my scheme was never introduced to the public or even critiqued.
